Many wonderful NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) have been working to make the education of girls a priority. Brave women in Afghanistan run schools despite threats of violence from the Taliban. NGOs are also working to deal with structural issues that make it hard for girls to stay in school, such as the threat of violence as they walk to school, sanitation issues and the marriage of young girls.
It is proven that when girls stay in school their future prospects are improved markedly. They are healthier, have healthier children, and contribute to the economic success of their communities.
